Pope Benedict XVI promulgated a decree recognising a miracle which took place at the intercession of the Ven. John Paul II. The Holy Father himself will preside at the beatification ceremony of his predecessor, which will take place on May 1st in Rome. That date this year will be Divine Mercy Sunday, which is a Feast Day instituted by Pope John Paul II, and it was the Feast on which he died (April 2, 2005).
