Many of you contacted me to assure me of your prayers, as I've been trying to get to the bottom of the pain in my jaw and teeth. Thanks very much, the prayers have really helped.
I went to the dentist this morning and after examining me and taking numerous x-rays, he told me that he found four different sources for the trouble I've been having. The bottom line is that I'll be having four root canals done - I had the first one today, and already, I'm feeling a bit better. I'll have a couple more done next week.
By the time I get all this work done, my teeth will probably outlive me.

Wow Father! Strange you should mention this, I am starting an Endodontic (root canal) residency program this summer, but have never done 4 root canals on the same person at the same time before. Hope it all goes well.
May St. Apollonia be with you, Father.
I am not a dentist, but rather suspected you would require root canal treatment! I had horrendous toothache myself around 10 years ago (it was particularly painful whenever I came into a warm building after having been in the cold outside). I had RCT on a couple of teeth which were subsequently crowned. The bill (around £1,000) hurt far more than the treatment. I am pleased to report that both teeth have caused me no further trouble - in fact I have had no further dental surgery on any of my teeth since then. It did shake me into taking more care of my teeth. I now have them inspected every 6 months and have a session with the hygienist every 3 months. Hopefully you will be fine again before long.
Please start looking after yourself better. My daughter due to taking several medications and not being warned that dry mouth can cause tooth decay, just had 2 root canals and many fillings that I had to pay for $5000, I wish that doctors would warn their patient
I also prayed for you and although it isn't pleasant, it could have been worse.
Thanks for all your advice and prayers. Contrary to my deepest wish, teeth don't heal themselves...
It was a rea blessing to see and hear you Celebrate Mass today, Feast of the Presentation ... thanks for the blessings. You are in my prayers for healing. I have had a number of root canals, and they are a great opportunity to clear out purgatory (and help Egypt). As my dentist says, "Be true to your teeth, or they will be false to you"
