New oil painting commissioned...

To mark the historic nature of the promulgation of Anglicanorum coetibus, we have commissioned an oil portrait of His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI, depicting him signing the Apostolic Constitution.  The artist is Leo Garza, one of our parishioners, and a respected artist in the San Antonio area.

The picture here is just a quick snapshot I took, but we hope to have professional photographic copies made for parishes or others who might like one.

Whoa! Is the final thing going to be hung up in the church somewhere?

We have to get a nice big fancy frame for it, and then you can be sure it will be in some very prominent spot. Haven't decided where yet.

A lovely oil painting - but I'm not too sure about the storm clouds gathering over (what I assume to be) Canterbury Cathedral. I think the artist could have been a little more charitable!

The artist showed his charity by not having a bolt of lightning striking the tower! The presence of a few storm clouds really understates the situation from which we departed.

Beautiful interpretation of what is expected from this painting. I believe that anyone that will look at it, will see what the artist was trying to accomplish and succeeded. This is an exceptional piece of art. Beautiful painting!!! Way to go Leo :).

WOW! Beautiful oil painting. It's great to commission other style of paintings besides the southwest style. I enjoy the symbolism. I look forward seeing future works. Again good job!
