For those of you who have heard our various Academy choirs, you know what an outstanding program has been developed by Edmund and Chalon Murray. The choral program is foundational to our total academic and spiritual foundation, and it affords our students the opportunity to take part in a remarkable experience. Not only do they provide marvelous music for the parish, but our students are able to excel in various state-level competitions.
The Upper School Honors Choir performed this weekend in Arlington, Texas. The Texas Private School Music Educators Association sponsored a "Concert & Sight-Reading" contest, and each choir is graded on a scale of I-V with I or "Superior" being the highest rating. The Honors Choir scored a I in both portions of the contest, earning a "Sweepstakes" rating of double-Superior.
Additionally, two students and one ensemble performed at the State level of Solo & Ensemble this weekend. James Galindo and Gabby Garcia both earned Superior ratings for their solos. James Galindo, Gabby Garcia, Maria King and Christopher Spalding earned a Superior rating for their ensemble.
Congratulations to everyone who participated!
