Pray for the people of Japan

O God, whose fatherly care reacheth to the uttermost parts of the earth: We humbly beseech thee graciously to behold and bless the people of Japan. Defend them from all dangers of soul and body; and grant that both they and we, drawing nearer to thee, may be bound together by thy love in the communion of thy Holy Spirit, and in the fellowship of thy saints; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.  Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death.  Amen.

I lived in Japan for many years when I was in the US Navy. The Japanese people are a wonderful, hardworking and honorable people. It was St Ignatius of Layola who first visited Japan, I think. It will be easy to keep them in our prayers as they fight this heroic battle and ask St Ignatius to aid them. John

I think it was St Francis Xavier who started the Catholic mission in Japan. But the whole Society of Jesus has historically had a close relationship to Japan, so it is apt to ask Ignatius and all the Jesuit saints to intercede for the beloved people of Japan!
