Fr. Hurd has been appointed to assist Cardinal-designate Wuerl in preparing for the establishment of an Ordinariate in the United States. He was interviewed by Raymond Arroyo on The World Over, and you can hear the interview by starting at the 11-minute point.

Good interview over all but he avoided answering 2 or 3 questions. Glad he is aware of the Anglican Use parishes already in existence. Hope all goes smoothly.
Matthew the Penitent
Father Hurd seemed to be saying that the Pastoral Provision would be continuing even after a Personal Ordinariate would be established. I was surprised by the remark. His explanation was that the Pastoral Provision would be for the converts having a vocation to the ordinary diocesan priesthood, vs. being involved in preserving Anglican Heritage. While there may be a certain amount of sense to that, the Pastoral Provision is exclusive to the United States. I wouldn't expect Personal Ordinariates in other countries establishing some separate process for converts to be ordained for a regular diocese. It would seem to me that the Personal Ordinary would simply be in charge of all priestly converts, even if the eventual assignment might wind up to a diocese other than the Personal Ordinariate.
Fr. Phillips could you clarify what Fr. Hurd said about the Patoral Provision parishes. From my understanding they have all ptetioned to be part of the Ordinariate, is there a problem with the parishes being part of the Ordinariate. I wouldn't think that there would be, as this is what the first priests who helped establish the Pastoral Provision wanted in the first place.
Also it wasn't just for the fact that they wanted married priests, but that they wanted their own patrimony also. Fr. Hurd didn't mention this.
Since he will be attending your meeting, hopefully you will be able to clarify some of these issues.
Having listened once again, I imagine that Father Hurd was merely stating that the Pastoral Provision Process will continue for the time being. I expect there may be candidates that entered into that process, and will continue under that process rather than being asked to wait for a Personal Ordinariate to be establised. Father Moore, for instance, was well into the Process at the time that Anglicanorum coetibus was released.
I'm not sure that the current status of the Office of the Pastoral Provision is. A year ago, Father Stetson was already planning to retire from it and his replacement had been determined. The website still shows Father Stetson as the contact person. I would expect that Archbishop Myers has been referring inquiries to the CDF and now Archbishop Wuerl, so that the Pastoral Provision Office has become obsolete.
