Pope speaks of Anglicanorum coetibus

During the Holy Father's talk to the Catholic bishops in Birmingham, after the beatification of Blessed John Henry Newman, he made mention of Anglicanorum coetibus. In his brief reference he makes it clear that he wishes this to be implemented soon, and he makes it equally clear that Anglicanorum coetibus defines the future of ecumenism.

You'll hear his words at the 10 minute mark.

Let us give thanks to God for such a great Pope. He has shown much courage by his actions towards Anglicans coming into the Church and also by going to England and Scotland knowing of the anger shown towards his visit.

As a heartfelt believer at the outer fringe of both the Anglican and Catholic Church I feel so very fortunate to have the examples of Pope Benedict XVI and Cardinal Newman as spiritual guides during this period of discernment. My aspiration to become an ordained servant of God in the Anglican Church now lingers in the balance of whatever form the Anglicanorum coetibus takes. I pray for all the Anglicans who had their homes torn away by the Episcopal Church and the Church of England. What once was beautiful is now sullied. Are we traditional Anglicans only left with the example of Newman? I thank the Holy Father for his offer of love and look forward to the eventual reunion of the faithful. God Bless, Hayden.

Do you think that the Catholic Church in the UK will begin to grow more now, since the Papal visit was a success. No flaming please!. Could we see two distinct but similar western Rites in the UK (The Anglican and Roman Catholic branches).

No, I don't see the Catholic Church grow more becuase of his visit. What I do hope for is that the exiled catholic-minded Anglicans might find a new home in an ordinariate that allows them to keep their tradition but under the guidance of Rome as opposed to the COE. Perhaps that is a futile hope, time will tell. - God Bless. H.

Well if the catholic-minded Anglicans do find a home in the ordinariate then the Catholic Church will be growing. Time will tell.
