Lenten devotions...

Each Friday evening in Lent we have Solemn Evensong, Stations of the Cross and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. These pictures are from last evening.

That was definitely a lovely time of worship, Father Phillips+. I have to say one of my favorite little touches was the creative use of a little "organ drama" during the Elevation and Blessing during Benediction...and the soft swirling of notes around The Apostles' Creed and Lord's Prayer...I'm an organ nut, so that spoke to me. Lord willing, I will attend Great Vigil at OLA...when will that be??? My tiny parish won't be having that this year...alas.

Ah, yes... that "organ drama." I close my eyes and picture thousands of angels winging their way from Heaven and swirling toward the high altar, drawn by the Real Presence, filling the sanctuary.

MY GOD, I believe, I adore, I trust, and I love Thee!
I ask pardon for for those who do not believe,
do not adore, do not trust and do not love Thee.

Father,

What was the name of the setting of the gloria used today for the school Mass? That one was beautiful, though I could scarcely follow along.

Do you use the Gloria during Lent?...we omit it.

Fr...

Will the new recording of the Holy Mass according to the BDW be recorded soon or has it already??? It might be cool to have it available on CD as well...

Brian,

I was referring to the gloria used on Wednesday for the Solemnity of the Annunciation, in which the Gloria is used, but not the Alleluia. Otherwise, the Gloria is ommitted during Lent here as well.
